An app to encourage positive changes by providing support and motivation for personal growth and well-being.
CONCEPT: An app that helps monitor substance use and show how it affects mood and energy
ROLE: UX/UI, UX Research, Mobile Design, Branding
TOOLS: Figma, Illustrator, Canva, Pinterest

Problem
The Changes app was created to inspire personal growth and well-being by empowering users to make positive changes in their substance use habits. Through in-depth user research and a design philosophy rooted in empathy, I developed an experience that truly connects with our users. The app boasts a sleek, modern look that not only appeals aesthetically but also prioritizes ease of use.

Discovery
After establishing what my plan was, I started the research process to gain insights on the user, which involved conducting surveys, interviews, and usability testing to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their needs and behaviors.
My Research Process
Goal
My aim was to develop an app geared towards promoting sustainable lifestyle changes and fostering positive habits related to substance use, targeted at individuals seeking a balanced and health-conscious approach to life.
Plan
My plan was to create an intuitive, visually appealing interface that encourages user engagement and supports the app's core functionalities. Visual elements will be modern and minimalistic, with a focus on clear navigation and seamless interaction design.
Research
I chose to conduct research through user interviews.
User Interviews
I interviewed a wide range of people for my research. The ages ranged from 24-60. There was a lot of valuable information that was gathered that will affect how the Changes app will work and what features I would like to include.

Findings
Visuals are important! There was an emphasis on the importance of integrating customizable and user-friendly data visualization tools to help users easily interpret and analyze their consumption patterns.
Journaling will provide a space for users to reflect on their progress, set goals, and receive personalized prompts and suggestions to support their journey towards healthier habits.
Personalized insights will empower users. Users expressed interest in understanding how their alcohol and weed intake specifically impacts their mood, energy levels, and overall well-being, rather than just seeing generic data.
Building Empathy
I created a user persona based on the insights and findings from the user interviews. I considered factors such as age, occupation, motivations, pain points, and goals to develop a comprehensive profile that represents the typical user of the app.

Site Map
The site map allowed me to demonstrate my ability to organize content effectively, showcase user flow, and communicate the hierarchy of information within the project.

Design
I developed a comprehensive UI Kit to outline the design elements, and then applied it to create wireframes and prototypes to bring the app's vision to life and ensure a user-friendly interface.
This Section Includes:
High Fidelity Prototype
UI Kit
I created a UI kit to establish a cohesive and consistent design system. This kit aimed to streamline the design process, ensuring that all components and elements across the app remained visually unified. It also served as a reference for maintaining brand consistency and accelerating the development of new features within the app.

High Fidelity Wireframes
I created high fidelity wireframes to visually communicate the intricate details of the app's interface, including design elements, color schemes, and typography.
Home Screen to Check In Flow
The objective behind designing the check-in flow was to ensure a seamless user experience, allowing users to effortlessly log their weed and alcohol consumption, as well as monitor their energy and mood levels within the app.

Easy to View Data
One of the main objectives in designing this app was to ensure that the user's data was presented in a visually appealing and easily accessible manner.
The app was designed to offer the data on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to provide users with comprehensive insights into their consumption habits.
Journaling Feature
The app also offers a journaling feature, allowing users to record their thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to their substance use and mental health. This feature provides a space for users to track their journey, set goals, and reflect on their progress over time.

Meditation Feature
The meditation feature of the app offers a comprehensive suite of mindfulness resources, including guided meditation sessions, a "meditate and reflect" option that combines meditation with journaling, sleep meditation for relaxation before bedtime, and a variety of meditation music to support mindfulness practices.
High Fidelity Prototype
I then proceeded to create a high fidelity prototype of the app to visually demonstrate the user interface, interactions, and overall user experience.

Testing and Iteration
Participants were asked to provide feedback on their experience with the app, including their ability to navigate through the interface, interpret the presented statistics, and engage with the journaling and meditation features.
“Beautiful interface and visuals”
"I like that I was able to visually see how much alcohol and weed I consumed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis."
"The journaling section is fun! I would definitely use that"
"The whole process felt intuitive"
